Management of Dental Trauma – Adult & Pediatric
Dental injuries can happen unexpectedly as a result of falls, sports injuries, accidents, or other forms of trauma. Prompt evaluation by an endodontic specialist can be important in determining the extent of the injury and improving the chances of preserving the affected tooth.
At DC Endodontics Specialists, we provide evaluation and management of traumatic dental injuries for both adult and pediatric patients. Dental trauma can affect the tooth, pulp, root, surrounding bone, and supporting tissues, even when damage is not immediately visible.
Traumatic injuries may include chipped or fractured teeth, root fractures, displaced or loosened teeth, and teeth that have been completely knocked out (avulsed).
Treatment depends on the type and severity of the injury and may include stabilization, monitoring of pulp vitality and root development, root canal therapy, or other specialized endodontic procedures.
Digital imaging and Cone Beam CT (CBCT), when indicated, can provide detailed information about the tooth and surrounding structures. Because some complications may develop weeks, months, or even years following an injury, follow-up evaluations may also be recommended.
